I think most would welcome this. I've always hated the whole letting ethos of ripping off already struggling people for "fees" so I welcome some common sense at last.

We were not aware, may well have not sunk in if we were told, so what we did is pay the fee. The properties suddenly become let. We did not need to raise the fee as it was covered by the fact that the property was not left empty and we got rent. We still do this.
Need to be careful on this though as some 'fees' I have heard tenants complain about includes the deposit, which I can assure you is necessary. Also somehow the costs of the credit checking and other checks has to be borne by someone. It will not be the Landlord in the end. The only good thing about the Landlord paying and then recouping is that the amount wont be so noticeable as it is buried in the rent.
