Perhaps because the vote has been taken. Campaign for a second chance to change our mind in 30 to 40 years time; sure. But no right to try to thwart our democratically decided decision here and now.
not so, RobNorth: Farage actually said, in advance, that if the vote was 52-48 (for Remain, obviously) that he'd keep on campaigning. And indeed Brexiters did just that for 40 years. I don't know why Remainers shouldn't be allowed the same privilege.
It's not a privilege jno, it's a right. A right which I will keep on using against the people who see fit to complain about democracy in action. Works both ways, see.

We've already had two votes on this, one in the 70s, when we were conned into joining the Common Market, and one last year in which the people decided to get out!
All he said is that it might still not happen. And, I suppose, there's a chance he could be right, but I have no idea how he has reached his decision. Certainly the prospect of permanently extending the deadline and forever existing in limbo doesn't seem impossible.
As I said on the other thread, that'd be a very very bad outcome imo.
He'd continue to campaign as he has done in the past, in the hope of another referendum in 30 to 40 years. But it wouldn't have the support until nearer the end of that period when another generation or two have realised their error in wanting to remain.
Point of accuracy. We weren't conned into joining the Common Market, Heath took us in whether we liked it or not. He would have known what it would entail, long term. However we were conned into staying in, now we were already there, by insistence that it was just a trading relationship with our close neighbours. I doubt many voters considered the consequences of free movement of finance and labour at the time. Those claiming that it was about becoming a single union were dismissed as simply spreading fear.
jennyKenny:"The vote was wrong in every sense".....err because it didn't go your way? diddums! It was a pure binary choice, the purest possible example of democracy I can't what is "wrong" - explain please.
As far as I am aware we still live in a democracy and whether you voted yes or no there is no need to disparage someone else's opinion. Or are we already a one party state?
douglas: no lies were on the red bus, it said we'd have £350m spare to spend and we could choose to spend that on anything even the NHS. The scheming liars are people like you sunshine who deliberately mis represent that message.
