R S P C A - Wants Power Of Entry

Very few things make me as angry as cruelty and/or neglect of animals, but the concept that a 'charity' as deeply flawed/useless/prejudiced (choose your own epithet) as the RSPCA should have the power to enter my home without due process of law is beyond ridiculous :

In normal times I can't believe that any Government would allow this, but we live in far from normal times ...

Had a similar scenario here G ..they had the dog away within the hour !

I've seen people reduced to tears as the RSPCA trampled all over the grieving process because it thought (incorrectly) that it was named in a will - quite reprehensible behaviour.

Add to that the apparent inability to respond to animal welfare concerns at a local level whilst having plenty of money for high-profile, politically motivated campaigns and you have an organisation with real problems.

The last CEO quit after just a year - having failed (one must assume) to be able to turn round a deeply flawed organisation that is still in the mire with the Charity Commission.

See...that's the difference, Minty......this dog had three households trying to do their best...getting abuse from the owner when he came home on Monday night.....phoning the RSPCA.....and nothing was done....well bar us trying to feed and water it.....

The chap cleared off within a few weeks.....god knows what happened to the dog.... :-(

Stand by everything I have said. I have rang them many times and never had any problems, they have always come out and helped. I repeat, abused animals need them, there is nobody else who will go into a bad home and take an abused pet out. I far prefer them to the morons out there who torture defenceless animal, THEY are the ones we should be moaning about!!

Jambutty...nobody here will defend those who abuse animals...and I've seen posts on AB displaying real anger ...not just moaning....about how some animals are treated.....
But I'd love to see an organisation that really does put every animal in need first....the RSPCA doesn't do that....x

I am nearly sure that in some parts of the US the animal control officers are police officers and they have guns.

I must ad that I have always found the Cats Protection to be a great charity. They saved my feral-born duo and also my previous cat.

I don't care if they are 'aggressive', I would be aggressive back, I have nothing to hide and they would soon see that I love my pets. And I still agree with jammie - WE NEED THEM.

HereIam......we need a good organisation......one that responds to the needs of animals....that can be the RSPCA if they pull their socks up......

If we all support the RSPCA and defend them they will never improve and animals are suffering as a result...x

A can never understand why people in the UK seem to be more concerned over animals than over children!
I would support the NSPCC being able to enter a home to remove a child who was in danger , but the RSPCA for an animal!!!
I just want to add I DO NOT support or condone cruelty to animals in any way whatsoever, but I just can't see what grounds the RSPCA can have for more powers than they already have.

No. They are a charity who are becoming increasingly litigious on charitable contributions. If they want to enter they should call for police to attend in support.

Gness if you and others were feeding and watering the animals then they didn't need to come out. You don't know what other much more horrific cases they had to deal with at that time. I have called them out about six times in my life and they have attended every time and done the right thing. I speak as I find and I am sick of people slagging them off. They don't get it right all of the time, who does, but the guys and girls on the ground do a marvellous job. I know two people who work for them, one as an animal collection officer and one at the kennels and they care desperately for abused animals but they are overwhelmed.

LB....we had to start trying to feed this dog because it didn't have enough food and certainly water left out by the owner when he went away from Friday morning until Monday evening.....
The immediate next door neighbour was throwing handfuls of dried food over the fence to stop it barking and whining....and bear in mind we couldn't see this dog over the fence and hedges....well I could have got a ladder I suppose....
I choose not to own a dog.....I don't want to look after a dog at all....doing it as badly as we were doing...with good intentions....was distressing....

I'd have liked to have seen the RSPCA at least have a word with the owner.....I honestly don't think that a dog being cared for in this way is acceptable and I do consider that the RSPCA had just as much duty towards this dog as others....

Perhaps even a visit to say....okay....dog looks not too bad....keep firing the food over the fence and getting some wet stuff and water under where you can.....

Plus.....I'd quite like them to protect badgers from oddballs with guns.....but maybe that's just me... :-)

Stopped giving to the R.S.P.C.A. years ago ----------- and we have rescue dogs. It has become a political organisation i.m.o.p.. This is a move far too far.

I've never had any dealings with the RSPCA. I had no idea they were so badly thought of.
