We on AnswerBank squabble from time to time over various items of news, but reading this ultra sad item of news, makes one realise the futility of it all.
RIP that poor mother and her children, and my feelings go out to the poor husband, will he ever be able to erases this from his mind?

I know that road very well and it is so bloody dangerous. There have been so many fatalities on it. It goes from 3 lanes into two (sometimes on the brow of a hill) and people come off the motorways at 70 mph and continue on that speed on the Link Rd.
jesus - it even has an entry in wiki !

I only use the link road when it is very late at night or very foggy - otherwise I take my chances going across the wilds of Exmoor to get home. The link road has a lot of 3 lane sections whereby there are 2 lanes on one side of the road and 1 lane on the other. Some of the convergences are on the brow of a hill so people try to overtake a slower vehicle going up the hill and then realise that they don't have the power to do it and are not going to make it before the lanes converge.
Road markings have a lot to answer for, makes one wonder if those who lay them out have ever been behind a wheel.
There is a roundabout near me which has multi entrances and exits as well as traffic lights, some of which are pixelated (for want of a better description).
All the directions are marked on the surface of the road, those that it is possible to read that is. One is then left to try and read what it says, keeping an eye on the lights, whilst also watching the traffic.
A complete nightmare, why cant parts of the road surface be painted in different colours then one would know which lane to keep in?

some years back, there was a new by-pass built near my locality. A dual carriage-way.
There's been quite a few fatal accidents in the one direction due to poor road-markings (and possibly poor driving).
I don't think the roads are dangerous, it's the person who is driving the vehicle's responsibility surely?
