What can be done about it apart from stretching piano wire across the road? I also understand the police wont give chase if these thugs remove their helmets in case they get hurt. Why does it matter if they get hurt or even killed? At least it's one less piece of thrash roaming the streets.

Dave.....It seems to me that this has quickly become a copy-cat crime, and I am not sure what can be done, other than punishing the people involved. Tougher sentences might work, although I have my doubts about that.

More Police presence on the streets would help I suppose, but I keep being told on here that we don't really need more Police !

Not true. A criminal seeing a policeman would simply go to another place to commit is crime.To prevent this you would need a policeman on every street in every town and city.
