I am not sure if I support this or not. Whilst its a good idea for Learners to have some experience on Motorways, I can help but be nervous of them wobbling all over the road in front of me.

Excellent idea. I paid for my son to have do a mini course on motorway driving after he passed his test last year. It would have been better if it had been included in his usual lessons.
no idea why such mystique seems to be attached to motorways, they are the easiest to drive and indeed the safest of roads. I'd rather they concentrated on junctions and roundabouts, the navigation of which seems to elude many these days.
Motorways are a great way to get about but middle lane hoggers effectively make them dual carriageways. I think the lessons are intended to aleviage our roads from these selfish / under confident eejits.

....and leap froggers cause 99% of the accidents ZM, stop changing lanes = less accidents, simples.

it's no big deal really, they all go on dual carriageways with the same speeds anyway.
The amount of discussion this is causing shows how good as idea it is!
Tora, middle lane hoggers cause people to change lanes!
no it's our silly rules, stay in lane pass on either side, like in the US much better much safer. I do 85 in the middle lane, anyone who wants to go faster can overtake, easy. All this leapfroging down the road is dangerous. I agree that if you are not doing at least 70 you should get over.
Debate doesn't make a change a good one. The result of the debate may indicate whether it is, though.
Going into the left hand lane is often pointless though as it's full of lorries so you'd have to be changing into the middle lane every few minutes.

If someone is hogging the middle land on a pretty quiet motorway then that is lazy driving.

TTT..... "I do 85 in the middle lane"

Really ? If so, you are an accident waiting to happen !

The Jeremy Clarkson School of Motoring.....I want to drive as fast as I want, despite the law, and anybody else can get out of my way !

( you are not a BMW driver by any chance are you ?)
IMO 70mph was sensible in the early days of cars unable to cope with long faster journeys. It's unsuitable for today's traffic, as long as road/weather conditions are good. The vast majority of folk push that limit as witnessed by all you lot passing me.
ummmmm: "quiet motorway" - where?

Have a day off mikey, even plod say 70 is too slow. Never had an accident.
mikey, I have 2 cars and 3 motorbikes and yes 1 is a Beamer. Don't we call people with instant stereotypes bigots? mmmmm
Question Author
No TTT, but we do call people who admit to hogging the middle lane, whilst doing 85mph, as dangerous drivers, who are breaking the law.

By the way, I do about 15,00 to 20,000 miles per years, and I see people like you every day.

85mph = a dangerous driver, I've heard it all now ;o)

Its amazing how some people on here want to pick and choose which law they obey, and which one they ignore.
TTT...I don't commute so my use of the motorway is mostly out of rush hour so there are plenty of quiet motorway stretches.
