A young man appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning with a letter ordering him to leave the uk within 10 days or be jailed.
He was born and reared in the uk and is as much a uk citizen as Theresa May!
Now it transpires that it was an error which was "apologised for" in a curt email from the Home Office.
This country is run by a clown government and a Home Office that is totally incompetent.
These are the people who are negotiating our exit from the E U. God help us!

Shane was mentioned on a thread earlier, glad to know things are not as scary as he feared.
There is always an unpalatable truth hidden in the most pointed "jokes" Judge.
The Home Office does make an exceptionally large number of mistakes, though.
//Coders, developers, systems administrators and testers make mistakes. //

Oi! not me I dont :-)

//The Home Office does make an exceptionally large number of mistakes, though.//

Yes they do and undoubtedly this is one of them but given the size and the probability of the '5th' columnists that is hardly surprising. What I would take issue with is if this is not looked into and someone re-educated or fired if a repeat offender.

//Lol that is the second funniest thing I have read today! //
Isley, yet again ignore the OP and just have a dig at a poster.

/// It's likely that this wasn't due to some pen-pushing jobsworth Home Office official. I would wager that this was down to a miskeyed entry into a database on their mainframe. ///

According to one ABer, mistakes happen that is why they put 'rubbers' on the end of pencils, (I would have used the word erasers, but hey ho)

'Pencils' a little behind the times don't you think? Tipex came in handy when we used typewriters, but now as you say this was down to a computer miss keyed entry, so easily corrected if one spots a mistake.
AOG, the problem with computer data entry is that once done it is off in the system and often processed in nano seconds. Too late to correct even if you see it.

But I think SP was saying us coders dont code the system right.
i dont get your point aog/?
Or was it just to have a go at andy?
bednobs - Surely not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AOG - //'Pencils' a little behind the times don't you think? //

Since you can walk into any high street stationers and find a selection of pencils with rubbers on the end, no, I don't think.

// ... but now as you say this was down to a computer miss keyed entry, so easily corrected if one spots a mistake. //

I didn't 'say' - I made no reference to how the error occurred.

If you want to have a meaningless pop at me, do try and do from a position of accuracy - otherwise you are in danger of looking small-minded and nasty for the sake of it.
TBH though it would not surprise me if this "error" was not down to one of the anti British in our midst who daily try and sabotage anything they do not agree with.

That is a level of paranoia I am delighted not to have to live with!

Lighten up for Pete's sake, it was all in jest, especially the 'rubber' bit which obviously went straight over your head.
AOG - YOU are telling ME to lighten up???????????????????????

YES,!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try it it might sometime it may alter your attitude, one can only hope.

I then may decide to debate more regularly with you once again.

But only if you behave yourself you understand. lol
'A computer miss keyed entry, so easily corrected if one spots a mistake.'

Big 'if' there AOG. As can be seen hourly on here.
Zacs-Master

As I have said before Zacs, there are some on here who are a little slow on the uptake.
Emotion is sometimes difficult to spot in the written word. A ;-) is usually used to indicate one is 'avin a laaaarf.
Anyway, have you found anywhere other than Africa that Zebras come from? ;-)
Let's face it , This was another major cock-up by the Conservative Party, one of many , more to come, T/M could not even organise a
P*** up for the Party , send her on another walking holiday.
What exactly are "5th columnists" supposed to be doing in the Home Office?

The level of paranoia in this country is getting quite worrying.
