5 Answers

Thankfully there has been little loss of life.
On the other side of the world there are thousands dead and dying who get a short mention at the end of the news if at all. USA is not the only country sufferings!

Agreement with your premise, needawin, could bring the wrath of sympathisers down on your head, with accusations of lack of compassion, lack of sympathy, and the like, but the media can certainly sometimes overdo the emphasis on events. And it is the media who decide what, and how much, will be featured in the papers, television, and so on. It won't be long before the editors find something else to feature, and the poor people of Texas will be ignored.
