Child Bollards Good Idea Or Not?

We have them installed by a school near to us, but in the true fashion of diversity, there is a white one, a black one and an Asian one, all representing both girl pupils and boy pupils.

But who knows these days, perhaps one also represents a trans-gender pupil.

Anything to improve child safety is a positive step, that anyone would remark on the ethnicity of the said bollards ? That's a problem !!

A load of nonsense, whilst you eye is being distracted by a strange looking "person" you could easily miss a real child crossing the road elsewhere. You need less distractions outside a school not more.

Distracting... you would move out to give them room at first, and then get used to them and ignore them. A bit dangerous when children are around too.

Why the driver needs to be able to recognise the different ethnicities is the problem.

I too find them rather creepy - they certainly shouldn't be necessary if drivers are respecting the signs which are usually already on approach to schools.

The problem is- if it came down to it, it's better for a driver to hit a bollard than a child- but most drivers will instinctively avoid hitting these.
