Emergency aid, yes.
Rebuilding these tax havens, let the billionaires that use them fix them.
As for the foreign aid budget, ridiculous.
But I guess that's a different thread.
If there is such a rule it's easy to get round. We can simply provide a sum of say £100m from other funds, and can then recoup it by making sure we underspend our foreign aid budget by an equivalent amount. I know there is our own law here that we must allocate 0.7% of GDP to FA but I don't that would be stumbling block here
Banned?? by who? Anyway we should not even have a foriegn aid budget, kin madness. Apply philanthropy when appropriate by all means. More foreign entities controlling us and being allowed to by the Vichy British. Does my loaf in.
'More foreign entities controlling us '

couldn't agree more, the sooner Scotland, Wales and N.I are fully devolved from little Englanders the happier I will be
BA to Alba!
yes I agree alba, please get different dependence ASAP
lol Islay, there are times I just can't resist :-))) xx
TTT are you not happy the government is restricted in its use of funds you believe should not be available in the first place?

I would have thought the money can be released from the fund but when it comes to accounting for it, it can't be said to be included in the 0.7% we spent on overseas aid this year.
would much rather Westminster had a wee vote on becoming independent, but then again, who would bother to go out and vote?
probably loads of immigrants.
The 0.7 is frankly ridiculous but more so is that some entity we have no control over is able to tell us what to kin spend it on. Does that not disturb even the Vichy British a little?
If the international rules state it doesn't count as foreign aid if the aid goes somewhere wealthy then them's the rules. So money to nuclear powers isn't foreign aid. We aren't forced to stick to the rules though. We can provide less foreign aid and spend elsewhere if we've a mind to. But it may mean we fall short of offering the official foreign aid we said we'd provide.
TTT, I'very noticed your use of the word "kin" more and more. I'm sure that "blinkin'" is not banned...
I do rather think foreign aid should be scrapped and a humanitarian aid fund set up instead.

A smaller amount of government money but they have to fundrais for the rest. Perhaps just like Red Nose Day and comic relief.

Natural disasters and tragic accidents, that sort of thing.

No money for countries with a space race or nuclear weapons. If they can afford either so these they don't need aid.
Spicey has it right.....these places are Tax Havens, so let the multi-millionaires pay.
Don't think we should even have so called foreign aid when so many of our elderly are suffering in 'care' and youngsters are homeless on the streets - sort ourselves out first !
Richard Branson's private island has been devastated, who will pay for that?
"Don't think we should even have so called foreign aid when so many of our elderly are suffering in 'care' and youngsters are homeless on the streets - sort ourselves out first ! " - not a popular view with the anti British hereIam.
If no tax has been paid to UK by BVIslands then we owe them nowt. Any finance UK (our taxes) proffered should be reimbursed by BVI in future.

Would that be coming from a little Scotlander, a little Waleslander or a little Northern Irelander?
