It's having a knock-on effect on the shares values of the likes of Hasbro and Mattell.
I think Toys R Us came late to the internet game plus they spent too much time suing folk who created business called Burgers R Us and Car-wash R Us ad infinitum.
I can see a lot more High st casualties on the horizon, killed off by ebay, Amazon etc. Many people never bother going shopping anymore. I hardly ever go to an actual store these days.
You miss out, then TTT, i.m.o.. We've spent a couple of pleasant, sunny hours shopping in Driffield this afternoon (Driff. is a basically Georgian market town) buying an assortment of items - dog tugger; garden fleece; plastic propelling pencils; birthday card; couple of jumpers etc. and a quick call into the bank and then Tesco's to buy something for tea and some bits and pieces to repay them for their 3-hour parking policy.
I still spend a dreadful 30mins-60mins in my local ToysrUs, with my youngest niece and nephew, every December, and its so busy in there that sometimes it take ages to pay. Not sure what its like the rest of the year though.
I certainly wouldn't be buying any gift vouchers there from now on !
I have always wondered why the R is the wrong way around though....anybody know ?
I was very wary of buying anything on the internet till I discovered Amazon. I haven't had a single cause to complain and their service is first class. As I am more or less housebound now they are a lifeline for people like me.
Quite agree JD. Given my back condition, it is likely that I will also end up more-or-less housebound and firms like Amazon will be essential - but for those who can get about the shopping experience can be very pleasant and social; everyone was smiling because it was sunny for a start. :)
Mikey, the signage was designed by a small independent company in the Mid-West that took people with various educational issues on as trainees with a view to giving them purpose.
The actual designer was named Beauregard and was somewhat dyslexic leading to the glaring mistake, just the latest of many, causing the boss to remark "You don't know your r's from your l Beau"
jordain: "You miss out, then TTT, i.m.o" - well to some it's not a chore I guess, good luck if you enjoy it. To me it's an ordeal, lonely you say, perhaps you see it like that because to you it's a pleasurable activity. To me it's merely a chore that I get done as quick and simply as possible. Amazon, click, sorted! I have regular items that just arrive monthly so I never run out and never have to think about running out. Each to their own I guess.
