Doctors House Has 35 Men Living In Squalor
How come they can get away with this, they are SUPPOSED to be responsible people?

If i rented out i would be very careful about selecting tenants (get references, even guarantors) and I would get a good deposit and keep a close eye on things for at least 3 months- even if it's just waking past most days

Not always that easy FF.
On one of our properties a few years back we did all that only to have to take the house back, stripped of all assets and littered with literally a hundred or so hypodermics, blood splatters every where and a load of rubbish.
On others we have done it only for the tenant to go on the rock and roll and not pay. We no longer accept DSS given the issues we have experienced. Best tenants are usually the foreign ones I'm afraid to say. We have some turnip pickers in at the moment and they are excellent.
Renting is not the easy market some make it out to be.

trt- illegals wouldn't have references- unless they were good forgeries. Immigrants might have references though so immigrants perse are not automatically a problem.
I know it's not easy YMF- but a few regular checks in this latest case would have spotted the problem before the authorities did. It is hard though once tenants start to abuse a property/rental agreement. In these cases the official tenant who sublets on this scale will default on rent pretty quickly to make up for lost deposit and will disappear as soon as rumbled
