Germany's Social Democrats are not really socialists.
Angela Merkel is widely regarded by many SPD people as the best leader they never had.
Germany always has coalition governments
It is sad to see the rise of a party which thinks Germans should be proud of the German army's actions in 2 world wars. It is precisely Germany's coming to terms with the evils of its old regimes that has made it the power it is today
The AFD won 13% of the vote, which is a lot for it, and 90 seats, so well done it, but compared to the 48% of Remain voters in the UK (whom many here would prefer to ignore) and several hundred originally pro-Remain MPs, it is small. And even smaller compared to the vast majority of Germans who are not of that mind. Germany overall still overwhelmingly rejected the politics of division, even if that voice will sadly now have a voice in parliament.
