Better safe than sorry.

This is how terrorism works, you dont need to have a device everywhere just enough to make people think thre may be if you say so.
Good old RAF
Probably someone with a gripe against Ryanair and there are plenty of those.
O'Leary will probably demand Compo off the RAF!

Why take it to Stansted rather than Luton, I'd be a bit annoyed if I lived nearer to Stansted!
Stansted is the bomb scare/hijack airport of choice
As a matter if interest......IF...there was a bomb on board and it wasn't a hoax, then what would be the practical value of having two fighter jets escorting the civilian aircraft?
The 'Phil Space' stuff from any mouth-breather with a phone gets more wearying day by day.

It's frightening to contemplate but I presume they would shoot the aircraft down before it approached an area where it could inflict a greater loss of life.
AOG.

Yes, I suppose it would be good PR though, being blown to pieces, but at least you would know that the R.A.F were in attendance.
Sqad - I`ve sent you an email
^Don`t tell him about the RAF that are based in Barbados at the moment then..

Indeed! My brother(RAF) refused to believe me when I told him how as a Corporal in the Royal Military Police I had to paint a bare patch of ground with green paint near our HQ when Princess Anne was visiting.
I just shook my head when he told me about the 'exercise' he was on in Sardinia. He was a TCO(Tele-Communications Operator) and the whole thing was held 9-5, Monday to Friday in a nice hotel, bless him. Those antennae are dangerous, you could have someone's eye out!
I'm surprised that the RAF could find a Ryanair plane in the first place !

Don't be so silly.
Chilldoubt - my father's time in the Airforce was spent in extremes Falklands in the winter and Belize in the summer!!
Islay,
My brother's extremes were Sardinia and a 6 months detachment with the RAAF(Australia) but a 2 year posting to AFNORTH in Norway.
We both joined HM Forces within 6 days of each other. Dad said Mum cried for a fortnight!

This thread is not about your father's time in the airforce or indeed any other members of your family, if it comes to that.

So please address the thread's subject or refrain from posting.
