I can't think of a way to spin this into a question, sorry.
I just thought it was refreshingly funny.

It's one thing to get fired so one can attack from the back benches, quite another to be believed to be part of the incident and thus viewed as probably not a fit candidate to take over. Surely such a tactic would more likely benefit Hammond or Rees-Mogg. Although, of course, more likely to be just security incompetence, and another comedian that doesn't understand boundaries.
I saw a program on him earlier this year, where he spoofed Sepp Blatter among others. He goes to an immense amount of effort to set it up. So he managed to dupe his way into getting a pass this time, too.
That gives him the right to get into the hall. And he wasn't carrying a knife or a gun etc, so there's no problem with allowing him in. But no way should have he been allowed to approach the stage.

Have a higher stage maybe, jno?

You can see the planning Brodkin must have done. He must have known, in that venue, he could approach the stage. Having seen the program on him, I would imagine this time around that he was quite concerned about being shot or suffering some other physical harm before reaching the stage. Still, that would at least have been a different kind of publicity for him, and perhaps achieved his aims even better (if posthumously).

I think that's also bad symbolism, Ellipsis - "PM speaks from ivory tower" sort of thing.
It's not a case of "it could have been a terrorist", those present will have been searched for weapons and, I assume, had to take off belts and shoes like anyone at an airport. It leaves speakers vulnerable to a prankster with a piece of paper, but I'm not much concerned. It could have been worse, it could have been a streaker.

You don't see the Corbyn photo, taken from directly in front of him during his conference speech, as an ivory tower then?
The paper could have been contaminated (remember the anthrax letters of 2001)? Or the interloper may have been able to kill her with one strike of his bare hands. The point is, she's the PM. The last line of defence is not the security guard at the conference room door. She was badly let down here.

Corbyn's not PM, so he can speak to "his" people as he chooses - but he wasn't on a particularly high stage, that's just a cute camera angle (beware of media manipulation!)
