Why Can't Media People Pronounce Things Properly?
21 Answers
With the recent political conferences, I've heard various media people (TV and Radio) saying things like "Pardy", "Polidical" "Commiddee" "Meedding" etc. What's wrong with these people? Why can't they promouse there worms property?

"pronounce fings properly"
The beeb dumbed down and allowed regional accents in order to be more 'of the people' or democratic or not-elitist
the accents allowed include estuarial, chav and sub-chav, and street-Jamaican.
Scouse (" the 'pule") is not popular as everyone associates this with a defendant in the dock who has been found guilty

Because they spent all their time whilst growing-up listening to increasingly slovenly language. Nothing wrong with an accent - but it must be a clear and educated accent. I have a Yorkshire accent, but I speak with clarity and have no problem; I'm not 'inner-city Bradford' although I use broader vowel-sounds than Southerners. Media people nowadays have cast-off all the common standards, with the result that they are often incomprehensible.
I detest 'Febury' - try teaching children to spell 'February' - but there are so many solecisms. Language is a complex code and everyone needs a common standard in order to understand one another. This is all but lost and 'media people' need to sharpen up.
