This thread, if nothing more has certainly opened my eyes to the general attitude of some of my fellow ABers.

Talk of murdering the whole of our Royal Family and their lack of support and patriotism towards the great country they choose to live in, I have heard that there are some anti-British amongst us, but I didn't realise how anti they really were.

Re the murdering of the Royal Family however, why have such posts not been removed and where are all those ABers who took me to task when I dared to criticise the work shy Prince Harry, no mention of killing him though?

Perhaps it is all dependant on who happens to post anything anti- royal?
As regards American sportsmen, I'll let their governing bodies deal with it.

For my own part, I will stand for our Anthem in a formal setting but never at home or in passing.

I am surprised that anyone is surprised at Buen's replies , his dislike of the Monarchy and a great many other things some of us hold dear is well known and spoken of.

'God save our Gracious Land' still won't help to please non-believers in God tho 10C :-)

Once had a great-aunt who stood for the National Anthem when the Beeb was shutting down for the night, woe betide you if you were in the same room as her and you didn't!!

^^^ Not at the Gaumont in Ipswich, 10CS.

Republicanism was obviously born early here in East Anglia - although we still pay homage to Boudica ;-)
ABers who took me to task when I dared to criticise the work shy Prince Harry
-----------
Yeah, serving your country in Afghanistan (twice) and organizing Olympic-style competition for injured Servicemen and women from around the world.
What legacy will YOU leave AOG?
I like Boudica, she'd have been good company on a hen night.
And even better on a Stag night!
aog I've reported that nasty comment about shooting the Royal family which obviously includes the babies, but I'm not holding my breath that anything will be done ...
hereIam; From that same source has been the actual delight in the public burning of holy books and the wish to wipe Israel of the face of the earth, nothing was done about those, so don't, as they say, hold your breath.
Shocking imo Khandro.
It's quite some undertaking to remove not just Buen's post that started it all but also everything that follows it. But it wasn't at all an appropriate thing to say.

Still, gives yet more weight to the classic riddle:

"Q: How do you spot a Republican in a crowd?

A: You won't have to, they'll let you know soon enough."

//I've reported that nasty comment about shooting the Royal family//

Why, HereIam? That's what he thinks, even if it's hateful or "inappropriate" in your or other people's eyes.

Those who want to silence or punish others for saying what they think are Stalinists: the concept of "hate crime" has no place in the law which governs a free people.

Mind you, the fact that Buenchico's post will be tolerated (let's hope that a burst of moderator's zeal doesn't prove me wrong) shows how arbitrary the definition of "hate" and "incitement" are, and how dependent on the whims of the arbitrators the prosecution of those "offences" are.
all those soldiers in their bearskins outside the palace would obviously be better employed hunting through AB for sedition (and giving little medals to those who stand up against it)
I think it perfectly reasonable to state one thought that the Russians had the right idea without folk giving credence to the idea one is seriously proposing it for our lot now. One needs to take such statements in one's stride and not get irate at them.

Meanwhile back at the Superbowl (or whatever) off with their heads, it's the only language these reds under the beds understand.
no one has pointed out that kneeling cannot possibly be taken as aggressive - it is usually a mark of respect

when Winston Churchill pointed out to Lawrence that the Arabs were kneeling in the sand outside their railway carriage ( 1920 I think ) he wasnt saying - "o these disgraceful beasts ! You save them and their fly blown countries and all they do is insult you!"
WSC later asked him (L): what country do you want to govern? [true] and L answered: "Beats me" [ kinda true after a sense]

so I suppose anthropologists would say it depends on the context

There is no way Chico meant what he said about shooting the first 100,but I do wonder who is 101?
quite so, PP, it's a sign of deference and if they defer to their anthem and their country (not necessarily to their president, of course, thank goodness they don't sing "God save our gracious Trump"), then that seems patriotic to me.
