apart from anything else BS was caused by the IRA, even McGuiness admitted to firing first.
That part of the world have far longer memories than that. They still rave about William of Orange for starters.
Talk about pandering - Derry, East Londonderry, County Londonderry. You can't please all the people all the time.
Jack, with some things they have?????? but have short memories for important issues.
I used to be ashamed of N Ireland's religious bigotry until recently....
It just goes to show that it's largely one's history that makes one what one is.
As for Mr McHugh, it may well be that politically it is just too sensitive still for hism to be seen to be doing this. It's sad, but it's a long road and most people are moving, albeit slowly, in the right direction.
Funny isn't it Ich, how politicians can take into account their constituent voter's views............or not. As and when it, of course, suits them.
I think someone (possibly in a balaclava) needs to have a word in Mr McHugh's rather antiquated shell-like orifice ...

I have no idea what his motives are. I am just speculating.
You don't need to be an expert on recent N Ireland history to see that that might still be a sensitive issue after all these years.

What about the people (probably about 66%) who prefer to call it by the name it has had since 1613?

He is typical of sentiment in Northern Ireland, yes they do have long memories, just wait to see what will happen if Brexit forces border control to be reintroduced!
It was always Derry until someone slapped ‘London’ on the front :-)
