Is It About Time We Got Tough In Our Prisons?
50 Answers
I wonder hoow this makes the victims of violent crime at the hands of these scum feel?
Why is it we have allowed our prisons to become such lax places. And where is the security, if you can get a mobile in then you can get anything in.
Crazy, we must be the laughing stock of the World.

Prisons have better food, hobbies aplenty, library's and education, fitness facilities, entertainment in many guises, and in some cases easier access to healthcare, they give stability and rules where perhaps there was none before.
So no not Butlins or a holiday camp but they get up to some high jinks and mischief all the same.

//Prisons have better food// The food is pigswill for the most part
//hobbies aplenty// Like watching tv?
//library's and education// Library stocked with second hand books? education only for long term prisoners,
//fitness facilities// a basic gym if you can actually book a place.
//entertainment// Like watching a nonce get beat up once in a while?
//healthcare//, now you ARE joking.

who said anyone wants to be there? You were not deterred enough to not end up back there. I would like to understand why the thought of going back did not deter you from crime. As you have the experience I would like to comprehend the reasons. I am not intending impertinence merely seeking enlightenment.
look, this has been discussed many times on AB. People get the idea that prison is 'easy' from links posted on AB. links to DM websites or whatever. I can Guarentee you that if ever you were to find yourself in the position of a guest of Her Majesty that you would brick it. Ive been a 'guest' several times. Never once did I imagine that I would be in prison again. The reasons why cons find themselves incarcerated are many and varied. Not every con is a mass murderer or serial rapist. The vast majority of cons have issues that arnt been dealt with on the outside...substance abuse problems, mental health issues etc. Sort out that and you sort out the prison population.
We get this on AB every few weeks. My view has not changed nor ever will it. No One ever expects to get caught so no one ever thinks of what prison will be like. You could lock them up with a ball and chain on their leg in a 6 ft square cell naked with no bedding and it would not make any difference.
What makes prison a punishment is the exclusion from society . family and friends.
As I have said on here many times I have worked in a prison education department and talked personally to dozens prisoners including many murderers . Not one of them said that the thought that they may get caught would have stopped them committing the crime. Again as I have said many times, over 75% of those sent to prison even for a very short sentence NEVER get paid employment again!!
That is how deep the prejudice against employing an ex con runs.
I accept that mobile phones get into prisons but not in the number that the Daily Wail would have us believe.
The truth is that most prisoners in high security prisons are locked up 23 hours a day. Prison as seen in TV programes such a Porridge just does not exist in real life. Prisoners are released from their cell to collect food and return to the cell to eat it. The scene of prisoners sitting in what looks like a restaurant eating their meals and chatting is simply a fiction for TV.
Yes there are TV sets in the cells but they are a privilege not a right. They can be removed for breaking the rules. Prison officers do not want TV removed as it would make an already difficult job even harder.
