Because, by definition, extremists are a small number.
If they were the majority , they would be Muslims, because they are a small number who take aspects of their faith to extremes, that makes the extremists.

We can never know wether the woman who serves you in your local Post Office is skimming money from your account
We can never know whether the old man who works as a crossing guard has pictures of naked children on his laptop at home.
There is very little in life which is certain.

Can't see any reference to them rampaging across the vast swathes of Africa, Europe and the Middle East most certainly.
