I have two nylon shopping bags which I keep in my handbag so I don't need to buy a plastic bag for any odd bits of shopping I need.
One of these comes in a pouch with a popper, which keeps it nicely stored away. The other, which is a bit more sturdy, folds in on itself and is secured with a Velcro tab. Even though it's made of thicker material and is a larger capacity, it folds up smaller than the other one, it's from the co-op. The other one was four times the price and from a garden centre.
Do you keep a bag like these in your handbag or pocket, if so, which is best and where did you get it?

My woman has "secretly" hidden 4 of those fold-up/Velcro ones in my zipped jacket pockets. I think she must have kept forgetting to have already hidden one there. Awaiting number five soon then. They can be useful, as bags inevitably get forgotten and left in the car, but they don't seem to fold away as neatly after first use.
Had no idea Ikea did these bags, just thought they had those huge blue plastic ones, mind you, it's a good few years since we went to Ikea.
Never considered string bags, reminds me of the one my mum had years and years ago, I used to hate carrying it as the shopping poked through and scratched my legs.
I have loads of 'proper' shopping bags, for doing a weekly shop, can't resist buying any new ones I see and like. I think some shops are missing a trick, if they had any sense they'd all have these fold away ones on sale at the checkout. I'd rather pay £1 for one of them than 5p for a plastic carrier bag.

Most people now tend to bring their own bags to pack their shopping in at work. Though you do get the ones who'd prefer to 'juggle' their items rather than pay 5p and then there's the ones who when get asked if they want a bag say "yeah, ive run out of bin liners" which I personally don't understand as at 5p a go, they're ruddy expensive bin bags!
