Cenotaph Today
As usual, done with the greatest respect and dignity. I can't think of anywhere else in the world that does this sort of thing so well.
Well done to all involved.

Yes, well done all.
I think that, as a country, we do Remembrance rather well. Our little church pulled all the stops out. Ex-servicemen laid the wreath; children took the collection; the singers(me included) gave of their best; we had Bible readings as well as the diaries of a WW1 nurse and poetry by Sassoon. Every respect possible was offered. We also celebrated the era of hope for the future that their sacrifice had made possible.
Comments afterwards were warm and from the heart.

YMB....gravitas is the word you may be searching for.
I wonder how many commercial breaks that any other broadcaster would need, if they were to televise this event ?
Can you imagine how awful it would be, if there were constant need for adverts, in between the "interesting bits" ?
Another very good reason to maintain the BBC.

And let’s not forget that remembrance commemorations aren’t confined to the big event in London. They take place countrywide. Driving through a little village this morning I was met by a troop of Boy Scouts followed by a huge line of people, all led by a marching band, and all on their way to a remembrance service in a little country church. Who minds being forced to tuck into an awkward space by the side of the road and delayed for ten minutes on a day like today? Not me.
