Schools would have more money if they did not employ up to six or seven "Teaching Assistants" in many classes. When I was at primary school one teacher taught 36 of us perfectly adequately. But of course none of us had anything other than English as a first language. It is that problem that Teaching Assistants are principally employed to help with in many schools. And before you ask me how I know, I've explained many times on AB that I have witnessed it at first hand.

A niece comes home quite often with a sponsor sheet for the school to buy equipment.
2 years ago the sponsor sheet that particular week was asking each child to raise at least £50 to each pupil could have a lap-top.
Her mother was horrified.

Whilst your post is interesting, I suspect it is a diversion away from the cuts most schools are feeling.

Are you suggesting the headteacher of this school in the Prime Ministers constituency is being paid an eye watering salary? If not, I am not sure why you have posted links to others who are high paid?

My children's infant School asks for £8 a year to go towards extra caricular activities.

Agree sometimes there are too many teaching assistants.

Our PTA fundraisers about £6k a year. Again for extra caricluar activities and stuff not actually within teaching but adds value to school life.

Shake the money tree to catch the last few coppers not destined for the NHS and myriad other 'good causes'. It is after all the tree that just keeps giving.

Eldest Grandsons are both 14 and since they were in Primary requests for contributions for arts and craft materials books etc have been steadily increasing.
