Tell her Tills, that was normal back then in S.O.T. Frozen windows on the inside in the bedrooms with the brilliant crystal patterns. The coal fire also provided the only hot water via the back boiler. No Fire No Hot Water. It was my job to light the coal fire as a lad before I went to do my paper round. We have gone soft.
"We have gone soft.”
Agreed,I’m pretty sure in pre war days they were made of “Stouter stuff” and the Russians and Siberian’s could probably teach us a thing or two about living in the cold and just today in the freezing cold I saw two Australians in shorts, vests and flip flops or “thongs” as they call them, lol

Which elderly and which animals?
I look after my dog and I don't have elderly relatives. Are you suggesting I should "worry" about other animals and the elderly in general?
I'm obviously a very horrible person because I won't worry about people and animals I don't know - I won't even give them a second thought.
