I agree jno, sounds as if they are getting a good deal now Minty ("our correspondent live from This Morning"). And it obviously works for them.

Well at the risk of sounding incredibly snobby a pub Christmas meal isn't a patch on a home cooked one and as for price - what does a free-range bronze this fed on that turkey from a local supplier go for, must be nearing £100 for a big one? That's what I'd go for anyway.
Question Author
You are right Prudie. A turkey to feed my lot (9 of us) would be about £120 for a decent bird.
and she does not charge for kids..so a couple with 3 kids are fed for £60 all inclusive... she said there are usually 5/6 kids there !
£85 for a medium sized bronze last year !
Danny, does having boys mean she shouldn't get help if she wanted it? Personally, the kitchen is a no-go area in my house, I can't stand people who come in to 'help', either before or after. One year OH managed to crack his head open on the half-open garage door so one daughter took him to A and E, the other daughter and her family were off visiting her in-laws in the morning so I had the house to myself, it was utter bliss.
same zebo..." oot the kitchen !" can't stand folk hovering
Question Author
lol zebo. I'm a little bit like that. It's easier to chuck people out now I have such limited workspace. "Very kind, but there really is no room". As opposed to thinking "FGS, touch that b****y sauce in that bowl and I'll stab you"..........
Stranger than strange. By all means ask people to bring a bottle/ sweet, but you don't charge them.
no different to me going to a friend this year..going halfers on the food/booze shop ! will be a darned sight more than £60 for 2 of us at that !
Friends and family, different murray?
she is feeding12/16 Lina.. with the best will in the world would cost a fortune to do what she does..and the guests invite themselves !
Question Author
And Ill bet NONE of that is booze, Minty

However, almost everyone has said at least they would make or potentially expect some contribution (a dish, some plonk, some elbow grease in the kitchen), so why is it so different to make the contribution in money?
Why should one household burden the cost?
I've had 12 family for Christmas dinner murray. I suppose it depends on circumstances, but still a lot per head to ask.
bottle of wine probably...none of us are drinkers really...nice selection of flavoured fizz
Question Author
Actually looking at it, she provides food from 10am to 10pm and its open house. I think shes undercharging!!!!
I'd go !!
Has anyone here asked for a cash contribution and stated the amount they want? To be offered a donation towards it is another thing.
Question Author
lol, I think my brother is going to give us all an invoice now!

I might have one prepared ready for the baking and puds Ive done. This could be interesting.......
