When the Conservatives came to power in 2010, Labour left them net immigration at less than 200,000. So these ‘improved’ figures are considerably higher than the last ‘failed’ Labour Government.

Emmie, absolutely yes I would. People looking for help? People needing somewhere safe? Is that not what we did in WW2 with evacuated children? Getting them away from the danger and to the safety of the countryside?

And I agree they need insurance as that's the way the world works and otherwise the NHS will struggle even more, but I don't think the answer is shutting the door.

It's a sad day for humanity when we close the door on our own people/species etc.
