Oh I think there's more to The Donald than mob mentality, Naomi.

There must be, surely.

For example: Covfefe, the fevered key bashing of a chronic insomniac, the wall, drain the swamp, crooked Hillary (he gets a pass), plus pretty much anything he's ever said, at least after 'you can grab their pooseh and everything' (I may be paraphrasing) but when it all shakes out, he's a *** cretin.
Rhymes with the stool, y'know, ducking.
Douglas, //Oh I think there's more to The Donald than mob mentality, Naomi. //

I wasn't referring to 'To Donald'.
Lucking ?
What?

(My previous post should have read 'The Donald'. Not words I'm fond of - but to quote Douglas ....).
I think I knew that, Naomi, but I have a problem that needs addressing, namely that he enrages me.
I'm a crabbit forker with a dark sense of humour but that man in word, image or deed just tips me over the edge.

Pavlovian? Maybe.

I think I'm spent for the moment. :-)
Bit much to go on about a "mob mentality" against Trump -- did you ever see his rallies, with the not-at-all-mobbish chanting of "BUILD THE WALL" or "LOCK HER UP"? Always a great sign of respecting the democratic process when you imply that your political opponent belongs in prison, eh?

To be sure, there is an anti-Trump bias among many, but don't pretend that opposition to him is unfounded now, or based on blindness to his strengths, whatever they are. It's pretty reasonable to find the man, what he has said and done, and what he stands for, abhorrent.
Douglas, he enrages you but a fat lot of good your rage will do – or Eddie’s stupid, puerile elation at the prospect of a British ‘Bum-fest’ – or Mikey’s constant attempts to stick the boot in – even if he has to manufacture his claims to do it. The fact is Trump is the elected president of the USA, arguably the most powerful nation on earth and regardless of what you, Eddie, Mikey, or anyone else thinks, that office – and the country it represents - should be afforded the respect it warrants. This constant witch hunt – his hair, his wife, his words .. .whatever ….says far more about the hunters than the hunted. The man is on our side – and if push ever comes to shove we would be utterly stupid to reject his support - but the world is on what appears to be an unstoppable, irrational, roll! Someone here, quite bizarrely, suggested yesterday that if the videos he re-tweeted turn out to be fake he should apologise - but to whom? IS, Boko Haram, al-Qaeda? Who? I’ve never in my life said For Funks Sake – but on this occasion I will. Count me out!
Jim, see above.
I'm happy to respect the presidential office as soon as Trump does.
Fool.
Isn't he just? :P

Jim, clearly I don't need to spell it out.
I'm told that venting reduces stress and blood pressure and this is a lot cheaper than therapy.
Whoosh!
I'd love to know what gives you the impression that Trump has any respect for the office. He had none for Obama, after all, spending most of Obama's term screaming that the then president wasn't even born in the country, then pretending that somehow it was someone else's (specifically, Hillary Clinton's) idea -- a claim that was doubly "fake news", of course.

Now he's in office, he spends half his time tweeting and insulting, dismissing, or attacking just about every world leader (outside the savoury grouping of Putin, Duterte, Erdogan and Assad), most of his senate, undermines his cabinet regularly, and plays golf most of the time.

Funnily enough, you'll find at least one Trump tweet or Trump quote roundly criticising each and every one of these behaviours when someone else did it.

So yes, sure -- tell me how you can possibly get the impression that Trump respects the office he sits in.
Jim, the point is we should respect it. If push ever comes to shove whose side are you on… really?
This report claims it’s Trump who’s pulled out of a working visit: rather than that he’s been banned from coming. That is actually bad news: Trump SHOULD come here in his capacity as president but I rather agree with Anne, who commented that if there are no cheering crowds or flattering Saudi, Chinese or Russian tyrants then he’d rather stay home and tweet :-)
Says a lot for this once great country of ours, when the leader of the most powerful country in the world (a country that we once had a special relationship with) would rather not visit us, because of the baying mobs that we have now seem to have spawned.
According to the link the trip is postponed not cancelled.
