/// After all it's only 84 men this time, not like there's a problem or anything///
and also highlighting the total number of convictions
///264 individual convictions///
Many, many years ago - probably about 20- Ann Cryer (Lab,) M.P. for Keighley was publicising this problem amongst others she found in her constituency. She was squashed by the establishment. I was also yelling, as were many others, about things we'd become aware of, to no avail. One of the reasons I was happy to go to live in France for a long time. So, no surprise to me. I think that if there were a map showing percentages of abusive groomers, some areas would show a far higher percentage Pakistani/Muslim than others.
//these girls were targeted because of the colour of their skin, can you imagine the stink there would be if old white men were deliberately targeting Asian girls....//
Disagree, Emmie. They were targeted because they were non-Muslim. The first cases of "localised" grooming we know about were not white English girls, they were Sikh girls, probably because the gangs thought a young Sikh girl would be less likely to talk once she'd been successfully groomed and pimped out.
One of the reasons for the creation of the Sikh Awareness Society.

What is not reported enough is that they also targeted girls who are in care homes.
The reason given for police inaction in the past has been the fear of accusations of racism.
There was something else - the girls were simply not believed. They were thought of as 'troubled' and consequently were not taken seriously.
