however he can stay where he is for life as far as i am concerned, he gave away his rights when advocating death to people in this country. He can rot.

Many American prisons are run by the Private Sector and our forays into 'outsourcing' parts of the justice-system haven't gone too well...

Many American jails are run as businesses and advertise themselves to State Courts to convince them to send them 'Clients'.
Many of these adverts boast of how 'tough' the prison regime is as a selling point.

This organisation publishes a bi monthly magazine advertising its jails which is sent to every court in the USA.

It even does 'special offers' like a reduction if you send them several prisoners in the same month.
Other private jail operators do the same so US courts can shop around to get the best price to lock up their prisoners .

There are privately-run prisons in this country, of which I strongly disapprove. They are HM prisons and should be run only by HM government. To my mind private security firms have no part to play in the justice system.

He's in a US Prison because he was organizing terrorist attacks in Orgon. He is in Solitary so he cannot radicalise other inmates. He is a danger if he had access to others. May he rot in hell!

Is the US signed up to the ECHR? Does the US have to act on his concer or is it up to the UK to 'get him out of there?

Under who's authority and direction can his appeal to be sent back to cushy land be determined?

I would be quite happy for him to stay there until he dies or his term is up.

PRivate prison or not I don't care. As long as they are locked up with minimum cost to the tax payer then I am all for it. If that minimum cost means no wifi, flat screen TVs and luxuries then so be it.

I do think we need at least on 'supermax' prison here though.

US prisons have to cope with a very real possibility heavily armed gangs aiding a prison break, so they have to be more secure and protected. Thankfully that possibility of that is much less here.

I'm not sure why so many have clung to the private bit, it's the model of how they are run rather than who runs it TTT is on about it and I agree we need to get tougher.

Sounds good to me, keeps the liberal left out although I must admit I am not a fan of private prisons.

My sons mate has recently been released after serving time in 2 private prisons (Dovegate and Oakwood) They don't even provide clothing, if you've got no one to send you clothes in, tough. So the poorer prisoners, or those with no family, end up been at the bottom of the pecking order. During my stays at state run nicks at least everyone had the same prison uniform and were treated equally.

^ same in the prison I worked in, Prison uniform is compulsory and supplied free. They have a problem with released prisoners trying to steal the clothing. Jeans / shirts marked Property of HM Prison service are sought after by some people , I have heard of good money being paid for them on the outside , £100 for a pair of prison jeans was mentioned.

EDDIE, during one stay at her maj's pleasure, there was a guy who worked in the prison workshops making prison tshirts. He used to stuff 'property of HM Prison' labels down his pants, bring them back to his cell, and then post them out to sell.
