yes but that's what C-16 appears to be proposing.

C16 came became law in May. In New yorin 2015, and in the UK in 2004. Find me one case of anybody getting a heavy fine for using the wrong pronoun.

whilst not actually sanctioned by the law, I'd say losing your livelihood is a big enough fine for anybody using an incorrect pronoun.
I recall that case and it went deeper than the simple misuse of a pronoun.

Misgendering. Now that's a new word for me. I wonder if it will make it to the OED.
WE have had a discussion on Mr Sutcliffe already, slightly more than a simple wrong pronoun- it should indeed have been sorted out better.
