This is interesting - I'd like to know what the women on here think?

Personally I would not have a problem with a Medical Professional being of any (or indeed no) sexual identity when performing 'intimate' procedures on me - I'd just want them to be competent, confident and humane.

It wouldn't bother me- but that isn't the point. The point is that you do have the right to choose in some circumstances, so deception is not helpful.

It seems to have been a cock-up, rather than a conspiracy - but the principle is interesting.
It was a silly situation to put either of them in.
Where you have a choice....and choose, it must be frustrating to have that decision ignored.

Someone at the hospital needs to start paying closer attention.

*awaits first post 'jumping to conclusions'*
Clerical error in this case.
It wasn't a cock-up actually. The link says she did ask for a female nurse, so it was deliberate.
disgusting this TG Cobras is getting out of hand. It's a charter for every attention seeking weirdo and pervert to indulge themselves.
Question Author
No - it *was* a mistake that the particular nurse was assigned - not a deliberate "identifies as female, so that is OK" decision.
//It is understood the nurse self-identified as a woman but had not been employed on that basis. He saw the patient only because of a clerical error.//
Morrisons wifi won't allow access to that web site but...

For me, until gender reassignment has been completed they are still the same sex as on their birth certificate.

Women who are trying to be men and get pregnant are not men yet and men trying to be women who have not had all the bits nipped and tucked and enough hormone treatment to halt/reverse maleness is still a man.
This is no error this is deliberate abuse of a lady that dared to not want some geezer examining her.
Wouldn't have bothered me at all, lets face it when giving birth did she demand a female doctor?
When you have had one person look at your fantoosh in such a clinical manner it really doesn't matter how many more do!
casa: "For me, until gender reassignment has been completed they are still the same sex as on their birth certificate. " - gender cannot be reassigned, end of.
Well, if we are going to divisible that errors can take place in organisations like the NHS then there's little point in debate.

This lady had every right to choose who did or didn't do her test, I have never bothered to choose just gone ahead with it.

Question Author
If a choice is offered, then the patient's wishes should be respected - there's not much point offering a choice if it is then ignored.

By the by, things may have changed, but during a couple of prolonged stays in hospital (40 or so years ago now), I could have waited a long time if I'd insisted on a male nurse for my personal care - I suspect that the "I must have a choice of the sex of my nurse" is still pretty much an option for women only ...
sigh 'divisible' - Disbelieve
just because you don't mind Islay does not mean this woman should be ignored.
Seems to have been a mistake.

TTT - what on earth is 'TG Cobras'???
Don't encourage him Sp.
Cobras, don't know but guessing at rowlocks, TG, trans gender
