"...we are talking of 25p per cup, a not inconsiderable tax," It still won't stop people drinking it. If you have two a day five days a week it will cost you £32.50 instead of £30.00 (assuming £3 per cup). People shelling out thirty quid a week on coffee obviously have a bit of income to dispose of because there are far cheaper alternatives. That much extra over...
emmie the cups are recyclable. There was an interesting bit on Breakfast Time. There are two plants in the UK which can recycle them; the issue and expense is in getting hold of the cups in the first place because they need to be disposed of separately from other rubbish as picking adds costs and potentially pollutes the recycling, and transporting them to the plants who currently have spare capacity.
It's just a trend to carry a cup in one hand and phone in the other. I hope it dies out soon along with daft beards and topknots. The falling- down jeans seem to be on their way out, thank flip.
I agree with TTT. I drink coffee and tea at home. If people are stupid enough to pay for a single cup of coffee the same price that I pay for a whole jar which will last me two months then they deserve to be ripped off.
