Well, his "tricks" have never really changed.
Ruthless genocide in pursiuit of power. A little bit of chemical thrown in when he fancies it, but the barrel bombs and other bombs rain down on civilians relentlessly. It says a lot when you read of civilians in "liberated" parts of Idlib in the NW fleeing desperately to the closed Turkish border, not wishing to take their chances with the victorious regime.
