Corbyn was holding May's feet to fire today, in exactly the way that an Opposition Leader should. Well done to him !

Erm, Jeremy Corbyn is paid £ 137,000 yearly out of the public purse (in it for the many not the few of course) for his 10 minutes of public 'service' per week. Whether he gives value for money is demonstrated by the astonishment from his own party supporters when once in a while he actually does his job!

By the way, what do you make of the redesign, Mikey?
Question Author
Togo....should have done a bit more research, as that contract in Leeds didn't go ahead.

The £200M owed to Carillion, while unfortunate, is a pinprick compared with the companies losses.

1000's of small contractors face ruin, with 10,000's of people out of work. While all this was going on, Carillion paid its senior staff and executives eye-wateringly large bonuses, and would have continued to pay them, up until October, had this not been stopped earlier this afternoon.

This could have been predicted, although perhaps not stopped. But May needs to explain why her Government was using public money, to give important contracts to a company that was obviously failing.

GG....I started a thread on Monday...perhaps you missed it !

Question Author
Hazi....the salary of the Leader of Her Majesties Most Loyal Opposition is decided by Parliament, and is the same for Tory and Labour holders of the job, so I fail to see what point you are trying to make ?

Mrs May was on the run today, and it was a good day for the Opposition !
Labour MPs have attacked the UK government for continuing to award contracts to Carillion, despite last year's warnings.

But...... ooo err missus.

And Mikey knows that because I told him on another thread. Not their good judgement as one might assume - simply fortuitous timing I believe.
Question Author
"fortuitous"....not a word we could use to describe Mrs May this is it ?

By the way, Corbyn got in first with the Leeds facts , which you can see if you view the proceedings of PMQs.

Like Togo, Mrs May got the facts wrong as well.

But its still a case of :::

Corbyn.....10 points
May..........0 points
The only question Corbyn failed to ask was........why do my Muslim mates owe Carillion £200 million. He would have asked it if a Jewish firm owed the dosh for sure.
Ouch!
you sure you were watching PMQs mikey? sounds like you were watching sky atlantic to me.
My, how the Tory back-benchers laughed yesterday, when the Maybot said that a third of Carrillion's government contracts were set up by Labour.
Haven't they grasped yet that Labour have not been in power since 2010? Did it occur to them to wonder whether Carrillion were issuing regular profit warnings - whichLabour ignored - eight years ago, just as the Tories have done recently?
Whistling in the dark!
Question Author
TTT...I watched PMQs live, but its obvious you didn't, so catch up, by using the BBC link above.

I see the radicalised Righties are quick off the mark today Mikey,
think you MAY have upset them a little.
Question Author
lol Gulliver !

Yesterday was one of the worst days in Parliament for May. My prediction is that the Carillion business is going to run and run.
It still won't result in Corbyn becoming PM Mikey.
Question Author
Danny....if an Election was called tomorrow ( cue Brenda from Bristol...."what, another one ?" ) Who do you think would win....Labour or the Tories ?
Hypothetical question Mikey the next election is years away.
Question Author
Nicely avoided Danny !

...nobody knows when the next Election is going to be. In the Spring of last year, you and I would have said that the next Election was going to be in 2020. But Mrs May called one anyway.
