We can't even afford to fund the NHS and our prisons properly, so this new idea of his will probably join Boris Island in the Estuary, and the "Garden Bridge" over the Thames.

Boris bridge Mk2 ?
I respectfully submit that it May be a bridge too far.
A sub-channel rail line is more than sufficient for the immigrants.
A bridge has been proposed before and dismissed as too expensive, impractical and a hazard to shipping in the world's most congested sea area. A second tunnel is a far better option.

Eddie....do we even need a second tunnel ?
Should have remained an island !
Well done OG for bringing up immigration as the second answer to an unrelated question.
Never going to happen!
mikey,a good point we are in the middle of negotiating our exit from the EU yet BJ is looking at ways to join us to Europe.
It would've be fIrst but someone got in quickly. Presently traffic from France and illegal immigration are intimately related though.
“There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”

A life rule in the Johnson household it would seem.

Is this really the best the country has to offer by way of potential leader?

Not the best perhaps Dougie, but if he gets the chance, he will go for it ( providing he locks Gove in the coal cellar first ! )
Why not have a bridge?
It's far from the first time it's been suggested. In one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world it's probably better to have another tunnel though rather than a bridge.
“mikey,a good point we are in the middle of negotiating our exit from the EU yet BJ is looking at ways to join us to Europe.”

Nobody, not even the staunchest of Leavers, is suggesting we leave Europe. European nations are physically the closest to us and among our most important trading partners. As well as that European destinations are the most popular for UK tourists and vice versa.

It is the European Union which Leavers want the UK to quit. If only Remainers thought about the difference instead of conflating the two it might help them understand why so many people voted to leave.
Too much wine.

I can understand a metaphorical bridge but not a literal one.
He has form.

He wasted tens of millions of pounds on the Garden Bridge across the Thames which was never built.

The contracts for which were awarded in an highly irregular (some would say corrupt) manner.

Ad to the list of other Boris Pie in the Sky ideas, Thames airport etc.
i can only assume that boris is planning on buying a petite maison for his summer hols ...

I agree that a bridge would be too expensive and a hazard to shipping but it's high time we had another tunnel so we can drive across in our own cars.
lefty love in, put me down for one of the pups!
