Well I have read your link and I still cannot see that the murder was racial motivated ie just because he was black.
It would seem that some verbal had taken place between Laurence and the white youths, hence "What, what" (I won't add the racist description), asked by the white youths.
So one could say that perhaps both would not have crossed if nothing had been said.
Do you believe that the killers would have crossed the road to kill Laurence, just because he was black?
Not condoning it in anyway, that what in the end took place, just querying the reason for the murder, you understand.
