Are they not seeking safety?

If they can enter Europe with weapons illegally then they can enter the Uk with them.

"....maybe we need to look back at OUR history where the English, Scottish and Welsh were fighting each other for hundreds of years on and off. And we have also had many wars with the French and Spanish and many others." What a strange (and completely inappropriate) analogy. The people involved in Calais are not at war with each other. They are (so we are told)...

But they wi probably vote labour !!
where did he get the weapon from, and no i don't think we should taking more in.

"This is the worst outbreak of violence between migrants in Calais for months, and the use of firearms is a worrying escalation of the tensions, the BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris reports."
These separate nationalities can't get on with each other even though the are in the same boat (pardon the pun).

How on earth are they expected to get on with us also, if they manage to smuggle themselves into this country?

But strangely enough the racist word will only be attached to those who would rather not have them here.

While I generally agree with NOT letting these people in....

....maybe we need to look back at OUR history where the English, Scottish and Welsh were fighting each other for hundreds of years on and off.

And we have also had many wars with the French and Spanish and many others.

So we are hardly in a position to critisize others who cant get on with each other!
there is a difference now, we have largely settled our inter wars, hundreds of years ago,
the mentality of the Somali, won't necessarily be the same as a Kenyan or others from across the Middle East, Africa.

What a strange (and completely inappropriate) analogy. The people involved in Calais are not at war with each other. They are (so we are told) "fleeing conflict and/or persecution" in their homelands. They are (so we are told) "seeking shelter and safety" (which of course they should do in the first safe country in which they arrive). There is plenty of shelter and safety available in France, not to mention the various other countries they have passed through).

But we see them shooting and knocking seven bells out of each other. And the reason for that is that they are trying to reach the UK by any means possible. Instead of forming an escape committee to decide who will be the next to stow away in a lorry full of tyres or fruit, they hammer each other.

Do we want people like that here? I feel sorry for the people of Calais but much of the blame lies with their government for signing up to the Schengen Agreement.
they should have sent the army in and opened fire on them, but.. edward....dont wory tubbs...they wont get far
this is 100% the fault of the French, all they have to do is implement the current EU law. End of.
Lily Allen is awesome.

Her album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ is flipping brilliant.

Gary Lineker is a total hero. Love him.

Corbyn, however - no time for him.

But as a threesome - I celebrate everything they have to say.

God bless ‘em.
"But as a threesome - I celebrate everything they have to say."

Good grief! I'm lost for words (and that doesn't happen too often).
Me too.
And me!
Oh dear SP.

Apart from the horrible thought of Allen, Linekar and Corbyn in a threesome have you considered having your ears tested?

No, seriously. Lily Allen’s first album was average. Her second was awesome. The third was back to average.

The good news is that she’s releasing her fourth album this year, so it should be magnificent.

And we all love Gary Lineker, because like Katie Hopkins, he’s not afraid to say what the people think.

And whilst I’m no fan of Jezza...at least he’s a conviction politician. He says what he thinks...like Jacob Rees MOGG.
"He says what he thinks."
Unless it's about the EU
In this he has a lot in common with the PM :-)
“The good news is that she’s releasing her fourth album this year, so it should be magnificent.”

Certainly. A very good reason why we should pay heed to her views on the UK’s departure from the EU.

I must say I’ve never heard him utter anything that I think.

non sequitur.
Allen, Linekar and Corbyn, squawking crisps and lethargy, could be a song. i got mine,,like to help but...so good tastes so good, relax dude, let the man pay, but not me.....yea yea yea
Sp1814 credibility zero.
It was the threesome that worried me most SP :-)
