What's the big deal? Are tax returns not public documents anyway?

I don't know, are they?

I know there was a campaign a year or two ago to make them public as other countries do.
. However, these tax documents can only be used for court-related issues and are not accessible to the public at large.
If a return is good enough for the taxman why should anyone else be interested in it?
£137,000.
Puts him in the 1% he's always moaning about.
Question Author
yep he's "rich" !
Was he paid mainly in £ Sterling or Rial?
It wouldn't bother me in the slightest that an opponent released their tax return.

What is he trying to prov? That he is part of the rich he wants to clobber so that he can join the me too brigade.

As someone earlier said, if my return is good enough for the tax man ... you can sod off.

Now if they were to publish their MP expenses forms that would be some Hint interesting.
"Now if they were to publish their MP expenses forms..."

Unlike tax returns, MP expenses are public record.

Wonder how much of their income was declared to the Tax man by Andrew Lansley Peter Lilley ,and Andrew Mitchell?, or are Brown Envelopes tax exempt!.
Tories on the fiddle again , they just can not help it can they.
I've never looked at the posts before, but it's hilarious! It's like being trapped in some pub in a different dimension, where all the right-wing racists and bigots can gob on to their hearts' content with their ill-informed and banal opinionising. Go out and do something! Get some fresh air in your lungs! Throw away your Mails and Expresses and think how bloody lucky you are!!
You're really not very bright are you Gulliver - your village must be missing you.

May absolutely should not publish her tax return. Her tax return is nobody else's business. Corbyn is playing gesture politics - which is pathetic.

As an aside, he said he wasn't 'rich' on £137k, but those who were earning over £80k were rich. No, me neither!
Corbyn has thrown down the Gauntlet , Will May pick it up , answer NO!.
And when it comes to MPs expenses , lets not forget the Tory duck House, that was a classic and no doubt will go down in History, PMSL.
Gulliver - care to comment on David Chaytor, Elliot Morley and Eric Illsley?

I'll save you the bother of Googling them - they were Labour MPs who were jailed for expenses theft.
I think it's safe to say that MPs of all hues are apt to do a bit of expenses fiddling. Or at the best massage them to be right so by starting a name checking game of the ones from the party you don't like is a bit childish.

Gesture politics seem to be the order of the day for Comrade Corbyn. But how does his faithful follower feel when He has said ... £80,000 is rich when talking about other people but I'm not rich on £137,000?
20.03 care to comment on Jeffrey Archer ,Hamilton, and Aitken.
Shall I save you the bother of Googling?
As I say name checking for oneupmanship... childish.

But it does seem that some OPs don't answer when their favoured colour is mentioned in a not so good light.
15.59, What is your favoured colour then?.
