Tourists will go because it's cheap.
You'd be better off in Blackpool, they don't even have a pier in Tunisia.
>As usual, TTT has it spot on

I'm still trying to work out what a Tish cavern is

Nice. Thanks. I should have known it was something crude/unpleasant/uneccessary
I would imagine that the tourist areas are pretty safe and the security will be overt, as it was in Egypt in the wake of the Hatshepsut shootings. However if that's what you want, a lying on the beach holiday then there's no need to risk it, go to Greece etc.. The wonder of Tunisia is mainly to be found away from the coast and there I wouldn't feel safe, for all the reasons stated already, there are some very insecure borders.
JD tish is butchers back slang, words are said, sort of backwards but not literally so the sh is preserved to make the word sayable. Some are literally backwards so Dlo (pronounced: dee Low) is Old" for example. Some are more complex, eg Gelabmal (gel - a -bee- mal) = leg of Lamb. Yes I used to be a butcher!
sorry that's for FF
TTT, you certainly butcher our language.
All part of the rich tapestry of the English Language.

Nowhere is completely safe. Any misguided scumbag can drive a truck into a crowd of people in this country.

I'd personally wouldn't have a holiday in Tunisia, but that's always been the case, irrespective of any terrorist threat.
Well I'd be happy to put my life in the hands of an assortment of heavily armed operatives.
It's not as if there's history of their predecessors running like greyhounds at the first sign of trouble leaving those in beachwear to fend for themselves.
I'm sure the latest lot are made of sterner stuff.
I holidayed in the place where this happened many years ago and no, I'd never go back now .. !
// That said, I know Tunisia fairly well – and it wouldn’t be my choice for a holiday.//

//Having has the Worst Holiday Ever in Egypt a few years ago,//

oops Norf Africa seems off the map - hello skeggie!
I am sorry you had a crap holiday in Egypt - I still can recommend Nile Cruises - still very down after various massacres. - 235 of the wrong kind of Muslim were zeroed in Sinai.

Great Roman remains - I am dying hur hur hur to go around. esp Leptis Magna - dont they have a mosaic there of Alexander the Great which is meant actually to er look like Alexander the Great ?
// as it was in Egypt in the wake of the Hatshepsut shootings.//

Nov 17 - I was on board wiv two older ladies who had been there ! - the only annual Nile cruise they had missed was a year later. oh whilst we are Luxor - can we spare a thought for the poor tramadol lady who is in the girls' slammer in Qena ( about 20 mi down the road ( North ) )
We went there.
It rained in the Sahara :-)
Delighted to hear the flights have started again.
But will you be on one Ich?
when i next get a holiday north Africa/middle east is where i'm looking to go.
Been once.
Unlikely to go again if only because there are lots more places to visit
