Former Soldier Charged For Fighting Against Isis
The man joined Kurdish fighters who themselves had air cover from the French and the support of Britain. They fought ISIS in Syria.
He is now being prosecuted for terrorism.
Isn’t this nonsense? And a waste of money?

but experience shows that these situations are rarely as simple as the media likes to make them - in order to drum up readership as a result of 'support' for a 'wronged citizen'.
I would be inclined to wait a little, and see how this pans out, and I am willing to bet that there is far more to it than the media is willing to advise in these early stages.
The CPS are not stupid - they would not bring any prosecution without a realistic expectation of a conviction, which in itself indicates that they have more evidence than the media have advised thus far.

Hands up all those who thought defeating IS or the recovery of Assad would signal the end of the war in Syria.
Israelis in open conflict with Iranians, hundreds of Russians killed by US forces a week ago, US forces attacking Syrian govt forces, Turkey squaring up to just about anyone who makes a face at Erdogan.
It is complicated: it was complicated all the way. There probably isn’t a group fighting now that isn’t terrorist in someone’s eyes

The problem is people you called as "Kurdish fighters" (YPG-PYD-whatever is that) are related with the terrorist organization which is called PKK. No one denies it. Every EU countries and USA recognizes PKK as terrorist group officially.
Unfortunately Turkey was too late to enter the Syria against ISIS because of epic fails of Erdogan in politics. And Kurdish group was a good option (of USA and EU) for resolve the issue against ISIS. That wasn't what Turkey planning. I know there are many instability in politics of European countries for the situation of YPG-PYD. There is also a NATO ally which involved the issue in the region against USA. Now things are completely mess.
My self opinion is YPG is completely a terrorist organization. However I don't think that those people (from UK army) really meant to join them for support to terrorism.
Sorry for the grammar since I am Turkish.

Problems with evidence prevented the British government from convicting enlistees to the French Foreign Legion or those thousands who joined the fight against Francisco Franco in Spain.[6] wiki
