Quite complicated, but as a sex offender he will NOT get automatic release, he will have to apply for parole.
Only a very few 'lifers' do more than 20 years, let alone a determinate sentence offender.

Short answer might be that he didn't molest children but Bennell did.

You could argue over who was worse, but I think I'd be equally appalled if either had come into contact with my children, so roughly equal punishments makes sense.
