Oh Purlease !!!!!

I am having more than a little difficulty in believing some of the comments on the Scotand England thread in Sports ... so :

Read My Lips - slowly if it helps :

"There is no problem with announcing the results of games - or giving scores during the match"

"Nope - there really isn't"

"Not at all"

"It's OK - you can do that"

"Really you can - no-one gives a monkeys"

OK - have we got that bit now?

What IS frowned upon by the gnomes is giving scores or results (or obvious indications of the result) in the TITLES OF THREADS or in THE ORIGINAL POST - which makes the information visible in Latest Posts or on the Front Page of AB or CB - and potentially spoils the fun of people who haven't seen the match yet.

Have we got that?

Are you sure?

If not then I'll get me coat - because I have better things to do than explain it again.

slightly exasperated dave xx

How did the Villa get on, Dave ;-)
Pour another one :-)
Sorry can you repeat that ?
it might well have been kinder to just answer the question on that thread, rather than seek to humiliate the poster in a new thread
I agree absolutely pointless post

Yes Tony - I know

A good win for your lot and the start of the (inevitable?) decline of my lot - I did hope we might have enough of a buffer to avoid you in the play-offs - but I'm beginning to have my doubts :(
I still think your lot will go up avoiding the play off's, Dave.
Do you mean that it's OK to mention that England won 4-2 (but possibly with a bit of help from the Russian linesman) then?
Question Author
Indeed Chris - we could have done with him today too - the Welsh Ref seemed to have eyes everywhere ...
(but possibly with a bit of help from the Russian linesman) then?

Oi, it crossed the line I tell ya.
Shall I order you the Tee shirt, Dave?..... ;-)

Bednobs & Emeritus - I was trying to avoid naming names - hence the separate thread - I was trying to inject humour rather than humiliation - possibly I got the tone wrong - sorry.

I do also have a funny feeling that I'm now having my chain pulled by a couple of jokers in the pack - perhaps I should just take my ball home ...
You're fairly safe there, Chris, they think it's all over, just don't mention the war.
Question Author
Doogie - are you telling me that we won the war?

I haven't seen that in News today so I'm not sure it can be true - has AoG missed it?
just don't mention the war.

Most certainly not !.
I think I've related this tale before.

One Saturday evening (long ago, before live footy, the internet and all that) there was "Match of the Day" on Saturday evening at about 10pm. This showed highlights of just one match. The one to be shown was only announced after kick off (3pm) on Saturday.

My dad used to avoid the result of the said match so he could watch it with added excitement. He was in the pub with his dad (my granddad) and me one Saturday. Just before 10 my granddad asked if we wanted another pint. "No thanks. We're off home to watch MotD. It's Spurs v Arsenal". (No video recorders then). "Oh OK", said granddad. "I won't tell you the result then - but you won't see any goals!".

Priceless!

Life was much simpler then NJ - so much simpler - but still just as exasperating :)
Yes I remember the 'Old Match Of The Day' days.
The only way to know if your team was going to be the Match of the day was if the BBC television lorries were parked up outside of the ground.

Thanks for that story it was funny. I don't suppose grandad was an Irishman or a Scot.

:-)
Minty's thread was a spoiler.
