Gerard Batten calmly and incisively puts over his views, while prejudiced and vulgar Scotch bully loses it.
UKIP - not quite finished yet?

Mikey would find this hilarious.

Yet another 'interim' leader for a party whose policies have all been stolen by the government. And its voters obsessing over half-baked conspiracy theories on the internet.

What a joke indeed!
Ludwig - // It's what they tell them at journalism school - never let anyone finish an answer, it's tantamount to letting them actually make the points they want to, and brings shame on our profession. //

Yes, there was a certain amount of tongue in cheek there. Clearly what they're trying to do is not let the interviewee just take control, ignore reasonable questions, and turn the whole thing into a propaganda piece for themselves. However, they do seem to overcompensate, and go into 'Humphries mode' when it's not needed. It's very tedious for the viewer that actually wants to hear what the person has to say.

Eddie Mair gets the balance right imo.
I hope for UKIP's sake Batten sticks around for a while. He seems to know what it's all about.
Regarding Humphries, I was unfortunate to have to spend a couple of hours in his company one afternoon in about 1991. Oh boy was he rude (to everyone), and demanding, with a very high opinion of himself expecting us all to leap the minute he opened his mouth. He sure made a lot of noise for such a little man.

Little men often do I've noticed.

I entirely agree.

Inside those soft Scottish tones are incisive questions and points which he nearly always scores with - a fine interviewer.

Humphries should go and let Mair move to Today - for everyone's benefit.
