Why do we have the religious slaughtering in the country
The old system of slaughter was much better and no way animals should have their throats cut in the first place. why do we have to bend down to people who are essentially not wanting to adapt to our laws and way of life

This was a rogue abbatoir, which is why the owner was jailed. Such behaviour is not allowed.
Halal and Kosher slaughter is not illegal in the UK. Animals can be stunned and rendered unconscious prior to an slaughter by halal butchers. The cruel slaughter by these men is not legal, which is why they were prosecuted.

So basically the slaughter men who actually performed this disgusting 'ritual' got off scot free (providing that they aren't caught again) but the boss, William Woodward, got a 20 week prison sentence. Mmmm!

I was was having tongue-in-cheek poke at the way are brought up not to bring attention to ourselves by being "rude" or complaining directly, which makes us as a nation, sitting ducks for others to take advantage of this. We are probably too civilised for our own good.
To answer your question, I think they all should have received the same punishment, so if it was deemed correct to jail the boss then the perpetrators should have got porridge also.
