No one forced them to come here and it is certain that the conditions they experienced before they got to the UK were much worse than Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre.

If they can accelerate the process that should be the default anyway.
Just because someone chose to com here is not an excuse to confine them in inhumane conditions sufficient that they adopt the only stance they can, which is hunger strike.

Have you no compassion at all AOG?
Have you seen/inspected the removal centre, andy?
Talbot - // Have you seen/inspected the removal centre, andy? //

Clearly not - which is why my default position is not "Well it is still better than where they came from ..." because that is cold and unfeeling in my view.

And I don't suppose AOG has inspected it either, he simply makes his opinion from the comfort of his own home.
In what way are the conditions inhumane? If the hunger strike of these illegal immigrants leads to an acceleration of their deporting procedure so much the better.
jackdaw - // In what way are the conditions inhumane?//

Obviously we don't know that yet, but I would suggest that someone who's only recourse to any sort of action that will have any response is hunger-striking, it infers that they are not undertaking that action lightly.
Your name's not down, you're not coming in. Milk and honey are off the menu.
If the conditions are so inhumane wouldn't they be pleased to move on, or back, or whatever?
//The women began their protest more than 10 days ago, and urged the Home Office to end “offensive” practices which they said left people “breaking down psychologically”.//

Means we can't get our own way.

//Mr Lammy said he would be raising the issue with the Home Secretary as a matter of urgency. He told The Independent: “I have long been of the view that the way that asylum seekers and refugees are treated in detention centres like Yarl’s Wood is inhumane and totally unacceptable in a civilised society. I am also deeply concerned about the wrongful detention of innocent people and potential breaches of human rights within our immigration system.//

Means I don't think they did anything wrong by illegally entering Britain.

//More than 100 detainees in Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre have been refusing to eat food in protest at the conditions, and have asked for the European Convention on Human Rights to be respected and due process to be followed.//

Means that they have been rather "well fed" during their unenforced stay in the UK and that we need to ditch the European Convention on Human Rights( introduced by Bliar and his Human Rights Lawyer/wife). Or send them to France or Germany if home is not the prefered choice for them.

Attention seeking Economic Migrants by the sound of it.
If somebody came into my home uninvited I would kick them out pronto. Same for my country.
Theland - // If somebody came into my home uninvited I would kick them out pronto. Same for my country. //

Actually, it's not, you can own your home, you can never own your country.
I bet some of our homeless feel really sorry for them in their warms beds and 3 meals a day.
Er - if they are on hunger-strike, it means that at the very least they are being offered 3 meals a day. They are also inside - so it can't be as bad as conditions they endured on their trip. Attention-seeking politicisation of their situation.
And the compassion just rolls right on ...
...as does the hand-wringing from the right-on bleeding-heart yoghurt-knitting, Tibetan peace-porridge-chewing and muesli-munching liberals.
Soft Johnny English.
If they're not happy the authorities should do the right thing and send them home - pronto.
i agree ^^
Why not worry about the people on going hungry because they have no food! If you have food available and choose not to eat it then tough luck
