they should be as concerned, and i am sure they are.
it makes grim reading however you look at it, and many seem to be gang related, so that needs nipping in the bud with more outreach workers to stop the young slipping into this dangerous path.

The notion that you can compare and contrast these two incidents on the basis of numbers, and conclude that the bigger the number, the worse the crime, is a fallacy.

I am sure the government is concerned with both issues, but doesn't waste its time with spurious comparisons.

No, there is no comparison between these events.In Salisbury innocent people were affected.

It's a disgraceful thing that is happening but Mayor Khan thinks it is part and parcel of vibrant London life.

As pointed out above though, the two are not really comparable.

on the grounds that
1) there are more
2) there would be even more if you said "knife, gun, explosive, terrorist and immigrant" murders

( immigrant murder can be tantalisingly a murder BY an immigrant or immigrant as victim)

3. brown skin matters and anyway they were speaking english and completely ignorant of any other language let alone Russian.

5. I only care about things that directly impinge on me. gettings stabbed when I go for a takeaway is far more likely than getting gassed whilst in a Salisbury pub - speaking russian

Since nothing seems to be done to curb these murders in our capital, it would seem that some of you would rather see action taken over the attempted murder of two, that could result in much more serious consequences.

aog, It’s not a case of either/or. These are two entirely separate issues – one a diplomatic incident which you, apparently, would rather the government ignore. What would you like to see done about gun and knife crime in the capital?

they should be of equal concern. As i said earlier there needs to be more intervention early on in their lives, sadly innocent bystanders are getting killed. so more money into youth centres, football clubs, and any where that gangs reside.

However, unsurprisingly in my opinion, the article fails to mention that the majority of the perpetrators are also black which would appear to indicate that the problem lies predominately within the black community. Perhaps we should be looking in that direction for answers.

Perhaps it would have been better for our government to ignore, since they didn't have 100% proof of Russia's involvement, and what has it achieved except to increase tensions, that could escalate to a much more serious situation in which many lives could be lost in conflict.

More concern over it's increase than is being shown at the moment, an increase in stop and search and more cctv cameras for a start.

You’ve lost me. As far as I can see there is no comparison between the two.

Apparently stop and search is being increased and I recall reading a few years ago that there is one CCTV camera for every 11 people in this country. How many more do you want?

The answer to this must lie within education. We need to understand why these people are choosing to live the lifestyle they live and why they are choosing to do what they do.

Less cameras spying on law abiding citizens and more cameras in predominately black areas, would be more useful.

aog, it stands to reason that if the majority of black youths don’t live that lifestyle - and they don’t - then there must be something amiss in the education of those who do. The problem needs to be addressed from the grass roots.
