Your licence fee goes towards paying him 1.75 million pounds per year. Do you think he is good value for money?

I do think though that the BBC pays more than it needs to for celebrity presenters and there seems to be a sort of club- just like in boardrooms and with some senior managers/directors - where people look after each other and create false markets
He should apologise for polluting our screens!
Maybe. But I expect we'll see a lot more of him over the summer for the world cup (unless the ubiquitous Clare Balding or Ore Oduba get the main role)
Can't argue with that mate! I won't be watching as I don't have any interest in football.
I like him and I think this is another fuss over nothing.
So it seems Lineker is one of that small group of presenters who haven’t mocked British fishermen at all? How about that.
//Gary Lineker’s mask slips once again – the £1.75 million-a-year BBC presenter reveals his contempt for hard-working fishermen as he dubs skipper Aaron Brown “slimey” and “slippery”.//

//I've never known any fishermen personally, but I have a million times more respect for any one of them than I do for disgusting slimey Lineker.//

Alex Salmond.

Never thought I would agree with Salmond.
I bet the fisherman has paid more tax than Lineker too.
Linekar is a twonk just about sums it up.

Along with millions of others, I have much respect for Nigel Farage too; that is if he was included in this pathetic slur, there's nothing slimy or slippery about him at all, in fact, whether you like it or not, what you see is what you get with Nigel, he's one of the most forthright of politicians today.
Note how Guido silently turns fisherman into fishermen, thus misquoting Lineker.
I suppose Aaron Brown was there to make a personal protest and was not meant to be representing the fishing community that he comes from, or was indeed chosen by the fishermen of Scotland to be their advocate. Meehh.
Lol, you’re just making it up as you go along.
//The idea for ‘Fishing For leave’ was put forward by skipper Aaron Brown earlier this month, since when he has been supported by a number of very experienced skippers and fishermen’s representatives from as far afield as Shetland, south to Newlyn, and from Fraserburgh across the Irish Sea to Kilkeel.
Before ‘Fishing for Leave’ was even launched, more than 40 vessels, including demersal, pelagic and shellfish boats, had joined the campaign as word of mouth spread around the fleet. This initial strong groundswell of support is expected to rapidly gain further momentum as the campaign was unveiled.//

Ergo the BBC apologist Lineker dubs all those fishermen “slimey” and “slippery”.

Togo; I think jno is determined to demonstrate that there wasn't even a whiff of an insult in Lineker's estimation of the crew, and that he is a thoroughly nice chap.
Bird of a feather and all that perhaps? (^_*)
Sidestepping the antagonism that Mr Lineker appears to create in some posters -

From the evidence shown on the OP link, I see no mockery of British fishermen.

This appears to be an 'in-joke' which has been posted without context, but with a spurious context created and tacked onto it.

Not really worth bothering with.

I was going to say the same thing. It's not worthy of over-analysis. He's seen a rather obvious opportunity to make a caption competition type gag, and done it. That's all.
