It has been ten years and as far as I'm aware not a single bit of hard evidence has come to light.
Other investigations such as the bloke not in the landfill!! has been ended. Surely enough time has been spent on this one child and the McCann family should get on with their lives without this very big reminder.
They will never forget her but this constant attention just amplifies emotions that would have faded to 'normal' grief and loss.
Ridiculous......this case may well have set a precedent for future similar cases.
Would the father being a consultant cardiologist and mother being a medical practitioner, have anything to do with it?
If he had been on the dole or a mere artisan, would the finance still be available? I doubt it.
Any hope of a successful investigation was lost immediately due to the incompetence of the Portuguese police. They failed to secure the crime scene and allowed the press and media to roam around the scene without supervision, and even possibly to remove evidence. They failed to act on reports from several witnesses who gave evidence of having seen Maddie with a man who was acting suspiciously, after the time she was supposed to have disappeared .
A parent of a missing child will want a search to continue forever, stopping only if the child is found. Emotionally uninvolved individuals should take a more rational viewpoint and know when further active investigation ceases to be sensible. But not, apparently.
