Really sad news. He was a really good player but also as a commentator/pundit he was someone I used to love listening to

I remember when he was ousted as assistant manager at Chelsea.

Their excellent form immediately nose dived.

what is it about ex-athletes dieing so young? there must be a problem when they retire and stop the rigorous training. maybe the wine and partying plays havoc with their bodies. rip ray you did good

He publicly acknowledged serious problems with alcoholism a few years ago, I don't know if he had relapsed or whether this has been acknowledged as a factor in his heart attack but it must have affected his health as he got older.
He was always fascinating to listen to. So sad

Sad news indeed. Played at the highest level and captained teams of experienced players whilst still a very young man. He was an articulate young man as well, which in itself was a little unusual even then. R.I.P. Ray "Butch" Wilkins.
