Parents have an aircraft standing by to take him to Italy. He's now been breathing on his own for almost 24 hours. This needs the judgement of Solomon.

Treatment may prolong his life, or it may fail to do that. What it certainly won't do is cure or reverse what his illness has already caused. Everyday a Dr in some corner of the world is 'astounded' by a patient's 'miraculous' recovery but I think it's fair to say that little Alfie will never sit his GCSEs, pass his driving test, or even execute the simplest of life...

I agree bednobs, at least in hospital staff have security, in the community MAY be difficult for them .
Its not safe for hospital staff either. A colleague of mine had threatening letters put through his letterbox after he was involved in a controversial matter...and nothing near as nasty or high profile as this.

Has it been agreed he can go home?
Home to Alfie is the hospital I would think as he has spent more time there than at home. A move is not in his best interests. Leave the little chap where he is in peace.
Parents meeting with doctors this afternoon to discuss Alfie's return home, according to latest news.

Thanks Ken. Not IF he goes home then?
That'll be some meeting.
I stand to be corrected, but I'd think the decision for home transfer would be made by the courts .
Liverpool (Alder Hey)
Enclave of Catholicism.
Children.
Incurable illness.
Guaranteed media coverage.

The above is a toxic and highly combustible mixture which is guaranteed to explode.

Am annoyed at way father has "arranged" his arm and head to make him look like a fit and well toddler sleeping.
~Baths~
Anne; the doctors and Alfie's parents are meeting later today to decide if the toddler will be allowed home in a few days time. If they can't come to an agreement, then no doubt the courts will once again be asked to decide. That's my interpretation of what i have heard and read.
Thanks for that information Ken.

I see his father is now claiming he could live for years. Please not in the state he's in now or worse.

Baths, didn't notice the 'arranged' photo til you pointed it out, you're right.
A heartless cynic might think that the whole sorry tale is being fuelled by free cash and an insatiable tabloid press.

Douglas, it hadn't even occurred to me that the parents will be getting money from all this media coverage... hate to say it, but think you might have a point.
Get on the plane with our prayers.
not mine
I don't think the parents have money on their minds . They are only thinking of their child . And as to 'staging 'photographs why would they do that. Alfie is a beautiful child . He looked even more so when he opened his eyes . We keep being told that the Courts have only to consider the interests of the child . What about the parents? If the outcome is that Alfie loses his battle at least they will know that they have done their utmost and won't spend the rest of their lives thinking ''what if''.
